We have one Echo Audiofire 12 running from the 800mb/s firewire port via an 800-400 cable and originally had the second slaving (via the 400-400 FW port on the back) from that. We aggregated the sound cards together in audio midi settings to create a 24 output device recognised by Qlab where we run our sound samples from. There have been recurring problems of the second sound card (outputs 13-24) dropping out requiring a restart of the program which isn't always possible (working in a theatre where the cues come very quickly). We figure it could either be a driver issue or a clocking issue. The two cards have been linked together using a 75 Ohm BNC cable and set within the console for the master card (outputs 1-12) to be the internal word clock and the second card (outputs 13-24) to run from the first. This hasn't helped. We have also tried plugging the cards into the configuration differently, by purchasing a thunderbolt to FW800 cable and plugging the sound card into that rather than slaving off the first card. This also hasn't worked, as the second sound card dropped out when being use this afternoon. Is there anything else I should try?
